He was born in Kyrenia on the 30th of July 1982. After completing his high school at Lefkoşa 20 Temmuz Fen High School, he enrolled at the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of TC Haliç University. During his undergraduate education, he did his work experience with the Head of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Cytogenetics Department, and the former greek Cyprus Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Philippos C. Patsalis, and a year later, he completed his graduation thesis on stem cell repair mechanisms for cirrhosis patients under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stuart Forbes, a lecturer at Imperial College London, St. Mary’s Hospital Hepatology Department.  He completed his undergraduate thesis on“stem cell repair mechanisms for liver patients” and graduated from the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department with honours in 2005. Between2005-2006, he worked with Dr. Christopher Palmer at Imperial College London on researching microbial models for the Polycyclic Kidney disease 2 gene (PKD2).In 2006, he began a doctorate program on Meiotic recombination control in human crossovers under the supervision of Professor Sir Alec Jeffreys, a British scientist who discovered the DNA fingerprint and lecturer at the University of Leicester, Genetics Department. He has given many written and oral presentations in numerous international congresses during his doctorate education.  Dr. Ergören, who was Professor Sir AlecJeffreys’ last doctorate student, returned to the Turkish Republic of NorthCyprus after Prof. Sir Jeffreys retired, in order to complete his military service.  After working at the EasternMediterranean University Health Sciences Faculty as a lecturer, he has been working at the Near East University Faculty of Medicine Medical GeneticsDepartment since 2013. He attended the “Basic Semen Analysis” course organised by the collaboration of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), British Society of Andrology, and the University of Birmingham England in April 2014 and attended the “Stem cells:  Origins, genetic, properties and significance for fertility preservation” workshop organized by the (ESHRE) in Brussels, Belgium.  He was appointed as theNational Cyprus Representative of ESHRE from June 2014 until 2017 and was the first Turkish Cypriot to be elected for this duty.  Dr. Ergören, who is a lecturer at the Near East University Faculty of Medicine, Medical Biology Department, continues to work at the Near East University Health Sciences Faculty, Nutrition and Dietetics and Midwifery Departments, Dentistry Faculty and Social SciencesFaculty Molecular Biology and Genetics Departments.
